Walcott Inlet

When we arrived at Walcott Inlet (which is where the Munja Track took us), it was low tide

We set up camp, had lunch, then sat on the bank and watched the tide come in. It was a 10.8 meter tide. This is what we had come to see. We were not disappointed. The water surged in and it wasn't too long before I spotted a salt water crocodile gliding along on the tide. Eventually one came close

then turned around (when he either saw me or heard the click of the camera) and he hung around for a while (he is the smaller "log" near the middle of the next photo)

Brandt then decided to see if he could catch a fish on the high tide.

Yes! We have fish for tea tonight.

There was not much of a slack tide and the water all rushed out again. Only saw one or two Crocs going out, so we assume they went out submerged.

Campsite set for our first night at Walcott Inlet.
Next day we went up the inlet to see if the incoming tide looked any different from there.

Once again we saw crocs gliding along on the tide. When they noticed us they tended to submerge for a while.

We also noticed how far the water came up a smack inlet very nears to our camp. It actually came a lot further in than in this photo, but I didn't get a shot of it.

Tis next photo is from a similar place to the one with the croc lying and watching. Notice that one tree is missing. It fell in on the previous tide. In fact it was a bit scary at night lying in bed and hearing the water rushing plus hearing the plops of bits of the bank being eroded away.

Still, the days were peaceful and we enjoyed the scenery.

Even seeing a salty basking in the sun (on the opposing bank)
