Kalumbaru

From Mitchell River National Park we drove further north to Kalumbaru. The road deteriorated even more from bad corrugation to climbing over flat rocky outcrops strewn with large rocks, which Brandt had to pick his way through carefully.
Kalumbaru is known as a fishing Mecca, due to its isolation and lack of fishing pressure. It's actually illegal to take fish out of the area when you leave. You must eat what you catch. Unfortunately Brandt missed out on a fishing trip due to wind that sprung up. And had to be content with catching two days of meals from the shore.

We stayed at Honeymoon Bay (reputed to have the best fishing.)

Those who did manage to get out in boats (before the weather turned) always came back with a good catch.

A scenic spot.
