Munja Track

Brandt had read about the Munja Track in the 4X4 magazines. It leads to an inlet where big tides surge in and out. The down side (to me) was the 460km return journey over a 4WD track. I talked him out of it. Trouble was, when we got to Mt Elizabeth Station the owner's wife and fellow campers talked him back into it. So, as I am only the passenger and therefore must go wherever the car goes......we are on the Munja Track.
We didn't leave until 1pm. It took us 4 hours to travel the 76km to our overnight stop.

It proved to be a scenic 4 hour drive:

There were many pandas palms along the way.

We just made it to our overnight campsite on dusk. We put the tent up together, then I set up the bed while Brandt went and got firewood before it got too dark and got the fire going. We decided to make good use of the fire (and save our gas), by boiling the billy for our cup of tea, then cooked dinner in the camp oven - tasted great!

The above photo shows that the bed is made and is being warmed by the fire!

Day two and we passed even more spectacular scenery

The track was ordinary in places and very challenging in others

We broke the journey at about lunch time. Again, beautiful scenery.

It was at lunch time that we noticed a pandanas that had fruited

I assume that the fallen fruit would be dispersed by whatever means nature has devised.

After travelling 96.2 km (at an average of about 16kph, we arrived at our next overnight spot.

Brandt tried to catch a fish for tea but alas, we are eating meat that we brought with us.

I am impressed with the reflections in both the above photos.

Day Three:
Early morning, mist on the water and Brandt couldn't resist a final half hour of fishing

The road was pretty much more of the same.
We arrived at Walcott Inlet in plenty of time to set up camp before settling to watch the tide rush in.
